SAA launches daily service to Washington
SAA launched the Johannesburg International Airport to WashingtonDulles International Airport service in June last year. The company said they would discontinue their daily service to Atlanta’s HartsfieldJackson International Airport. Planes would now stop in Dakar, Senegal instead of Accra, Ghana for an operational fuel stop. SAA said the Airbus 340 would be used on the route instead of the Boeing 747 400. The Airbus is considered to be better suited to longhaul travel after the economy cabin was reconfigured to increase legroom. The announcement came shortly after the airlines inclusion into the Star Alliance network and the move is aimed at aligning schedules more closely with their new partners. SAA operates flights to over 20 African cities and offers connections across South Africa. The airline is among the top performers in the world and has become well-established.
