Bots, Clinton foundation to sign deal
The memorandum, which will be signed this month at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, will include the procurement of high quality AIDS drugs and anti-retrovirals by the foundation for Botswana at low prices.
According to a news release, the government of Botswana recognises that the Clinton HIV/AIDS initiative has made the global battle against HIV/AIDS a major area of its focus.
The government also appreciates that the Clinton Foundation recognises the important efforts and progress being made in Botswana to arrest and eliminate the AIDS scourge.
Government and the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS initiative have decided that the foundation will assist the government in the AIDS drug procurement consortium and in securing high quality anti-retrovirals at low prices.
The foundation will also help in securing high quality diagnostic test equipment, such as rapid testing equipment of HIV/AIDS, CD4 counts, and viral loads at the lowest possible prices.
The memorandum will also include the foundations pediatric initiative which includes drug donations and support programmes.
The foundation will work with the government in providing targeted technical assistance in areas defined by the latter. ‘ BOPA.
