Pearl Thusi slays the silver screen

HARARE-SOUTH African beauty Pearl Thusi, who has long endeared herself with DSTV viewing audiences across Africa after featuring in the hugely popular talent search show – Lip Sync Battle Africa – on MTV Base alongside Nigerian superstar D’Banj, is back on our screens.
Barely a year after featuring on the Lip Sync Battle Africa on MTV Base, Thusi has added another feather to her thriving showbiz career by being part of a star-studded cast of “Quantico”, a must-see crime series now showing on DSTV.
Most viewers have warmed up to her because she tries to be very natural and connect with viewers.
Though much of her stuff is scripted, you cannot help but marvel at her acting prowess.
It has been weeks since she started appearing on American TV show “Quantico” but she is holding her own among other sought-after actresses, including Priyanka Chopra, arguably one of Bollywood’s finest.
She had had a good run matching the hype prior to her joining the series and hoisting the South African flag high. If it is not her acting skills then it must be her gorgeous looks that keep viewers glued to the screen.
“Working with such a diverse cast is really exciting for me,” she says of her new show. “There’s an intense sense of pride, I need to represent not just the whole country but the continent. The value I provide here is the type that people will think is in Africa.”
The actress made headlines earlier this year when it was revealed that she would be taking up the role of Zimbabwean lawyer Dayana Mampasi in the popular ABC thriller series – “Quantico”.
But it is not all work and no play for Mama Panther, who has been bonding with her co-star Priyanka Chopra over Bollywood movies. Chopra has made a number of Indian movies in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban where Thusi grew up.
