Road authority to host the 2nd International Road Federation Africa Regional Congress

WINDHOEK – The Roads Authority (RA), in cooperation with the International Road Federation (IRF), will host the second IRF Africa Regional Congress under the theme “sustainable Transport Practices Tools for Modern Connectivity”.
The three-day congress is set to take place from 11-30 July at the Safari Court Hotel and Conference Centre.
The congress is aimed at offering road and transport stakeholders in Africa an exclusive opportunity to share best practices, address important challenges, identify new and innovative resources to bridge financing gap, explores emerging trends and new technologies that can contribute to making Africa a shining example to the transport sector.
In a statement, , said: “As our cities develop and trade volumes grow, lack of adequate road facilities and transport services will translate into chronic delays, increased injury risk and higher costs borne by society unless the appropriate policies are identified and implemented. “
On his part, IRF president and CEO, Patrick Sankey, said: “with hard choices ahead, Namibia is at a crossroad to select the appropriate engineering and management models to make safe and efficient roads a reality.”
Sankey said the results of investments in roads have shown how transformative an infrastructure can offer a wide range of beneficiary communities.
One of this year’s highlight of the congress is that it also anticipates to provide knowledge sharing opportunities as well as a setting for transport stakeholders to network and engage with road industry leaders from around the world.
