WINDHOEK – Namibian white kwaito sensation EES’ new single is proving his love for original Namibian style and colour, and this time with an even deeper message of global influence.
In the music video for the new single ‘original’ EES, real name Eric Sell sings against online hate.
The video was produced by well-known German video producer Alexander Cheng Löw who travelled to Namibia with his team for 10 days to shoot the professional music video with EES.
With support from the Namibian Tourism Board office in Frankfurt, Gondwana, Journeys & Caprivi Car Hire the film crew travelled over 2000km through the country to various indigenous Namibian tribes to capture the soul of their culture and traditions for the new video.
“The production team went out to create a story of an Americanized African rapper who is being kidnapped by EES, who then shows him the beauty of the original African culture.
“To then, in the end, celebrate originality from your own home rather than copying the styles of other nations abroad. Their message is clear and simple: be ORIGINAL and celebrate your own cultures,” EES explained on his official website eesy-ees.com about his new offering.
The video that was released last Friday, 21 July 2017 and getting major online attention and airplay on the biggest music video channels in both Africa and Europe, including Channel O, MTV, Trace TV, Ampya TV and Tape.tv.
It had close to 5000 hits on Youtube in less than a week. The video also received positive feedback, with viewers commending EES for keeping it original.
The Germany-based Namibia singer is now for his deep love the motherland. In his videos, he can be seen draping on the national flag, his popular sneakers and also made out in the national colours.
He explained his music style as a blend of Kwaito, African House, Afro Pop, and Reggae. Since 2001, EES has been making a massive impact for Kwaito music outside of Africa, an effort that earned him several awards including the MTV Listeners Choice award in 2009.
Other recognitions includes Namibia Music Awards Artists of the Year (2009), Namibia Annual Music Awards Best International Achievement (2011), Best Music Video and Best Collaboration (2012) and 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards Best Kaito Video.
