Geingob to attend Lourenco’s inauguration
Windhoek – Namibia’s president Dr Hage Geingob is set to attend the inauguration of the third Angolan president, João Lourenço, State House has announced.
Geingob will be accompanied by former president Dr Sam Nujoma for the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect of Angola on 26 September 2017.
Namibia’s first lady, Monica Geingos, and deputy prime minister and minister of international relations and cooperation, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, will also attend the ceremony.
“Namibia and Angola enjoy excellent bilateral and historic relations, which are further cemented by continued high-level visits and exchanges,” said press secretary, Albertus Aochamub.
Angola held general elections on the 23rd of August 2017. The ruling party, MPLA won the elections and Lourenço, who is the former minister of defence, will be sworn in alongside vice president–elect, Bornito de Sousa Baltazar Diogo.
Namibia’s delegation is expected to leave for Angola Tuesday morning.
