10th anniversary: Air Namibia Inter-Series 2006

The “Inter-Series”, as it is known all over the world, is an annual opportunity to come together for two weeks of rivalry, socialising and family fun.

The concept of this event was created 10 years ago by Bernd Kroemer and received with enthusiasm by the Windhoek Moto Cross Club (WMCC) and ever since the Inter-Series has grown by leaps and bounds.

The title “Namibia International Champion” has a very good reputation in MX circles all over the world and the winner will also receive a cheque of N$8.000, no small amount in this part of the world.

The countdown for this year’s Inter Series has begun and there are top participants from all corners of this planet, such as riders from Russia, Belarus and, for the first time, the Czech Republic. There is a big contingent from Germany and the Netherlands will be represented. The British Super-Motard Champion will also be in action. The best riders from Botswana will be in Windhoek as well as those from Angola, Kenya and Zambia. South Africa’s top bikers and, of course, the “creme de la creme” from host Namibia will be seen in action

For the first time ever, there will be pit-bike races when the mechanics, helpers and fathers jump on a pit-bike on the 50cc kiddy-track. This kind of racing is booming worldwide and finally also reached Namibia. This race is called a “Winston Pit-Bike Clash”.

For the fifth time the WMCC will present the Red Bull X-Fighters Show Namibia with internationally renowned freestylers from South Africa. This is an aerobatic display with riders soaring over their bikes and grabbing “big air”. The WMCC prides itself as the pioneer promoters of freestyle motocross in Namibia.

After the Red Bull X-Fighters Show on November 4, the WMCC presents the “Tafel Lager Battle of the Bands” with household names like Mojo Blues Electric Band, Dylan’s Jam Band, Sense Unknown and, of course, Penilane, the winners of the 2006 Namibian Music Award.
