Lady May Bounces Back

Windhoek – Martha Namundjembo, well known as Lady May, is back with a bang and ready to regain her former glory.

She launches her sixth album “Crazy Desires” in Oshikango this month-end under Great Wings Promotion. “I titled it ‘Crazy Desires’ because in life we have so many needs and wants that the list becomes crazy.”

The August 30 and 31 show will see 20 artistes perform alongside Lady May, among them Blossom (2013 NAMAs Female Artiste of the Year), Uno Boy, Stella, Berthold, Staxx, Elvo, MPoser (South African).

“I chose to host this show in Oshikango because I always host my shows in Windhoek and want a change of vicinity, plus I am from Oshikango too,” says Lady May.

She describes the album, as very versatile with a fusion of genres, from house to reggae to rock, while maintaining the Lady May flavour.  “Some tracks were inspired by my stay in the Big Brother house because I consider it character building,” she articulated.

She feels the title track of the 13-track CD “Crazy Desires”, along “Velvet Touch”, “We Do It This Way”, which has a kwasa flavorur, will be hits with the fans.

“‘Crazy Desires’ talks about how we do things in Africa and what Africa at large has to offer.  Additionally, ‘Money Hustle’, of the reggae genre, talks about what people do to get money, and will surely be a bang too.

“I always try to better myself with every album, I want it to be better than the previous ones,” she says.

“Crazy Desires” is her first album since her participation in Big Brother Africa reality show’s seventh season.

Lady May came out in the top three of the Big Brother Africa – StarGame after Prezzo of Kenya and Keagan (the winner) of South Africa.

Of her participation in the reality show she says, “I entered the game because I felt that it was a good opportunity to strengthen the Lady May brand.”

Meanwhile, since the end of the reality show, Lady May has shared the stage with fellow BBA Star Game housemate Mampi from Zambia. She has also performed alongside South African legend, Hugh Masekela, on African Legends Night in Accra, Ghana.</p>
